Hanglar and Stanglar and Magnolia

Wow, seems like an eternity since I have made a post but it’s only been a week. That is too long though, I like  to post more often but life gets in the way sometimes.

Today I took the day off of work to get some projects done and also to make a couple of birthday cards for two of my grandsons.

The first one uses the Monkey from Magnolia. I received this cutie in an image swap so decided to color it up. It goes perfect with his birthday theme which is Monkeys.

Here’s a close up of the monkey.

This my daughter asked me to make for his party. The guests will sign on the yellow and then she will place it in a frame. Isn’t he just adorable ….. my grandson not the monkey ….. lol!!

Here is another picture of my grandson. I just love this pic, he is just too adorable!!

One of my other grandson’s will turn 6 tomorrow and I wanted to make him a colorful card. Since he is now in school I used both a number and letters for his card. I used this cute little Hanglar and Stanglar stamp.

Here is a close up of the image.

Anything Goes Challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central

Our challenge at SSCC this time is anything goes. If you have been frequenting my blog you know that I have made a few frames lately. It is a nice switch from cards and believe it or not they are quicker than a card.

IMG_1171 (Large)

I chose Bildmalarna’s Mimo with Tulip and Mimosa with Tulip as my images.  I used the largest of the Nestabilities Mega Curved Rectangles for the opening of my chipboard frame.  I covered the frame with paper from my stash and then used Ranger Liquid Pearls around the opening.

  IMG_1172 (Large) IMG_1173 (Large)

I used the following Copics:

  • Skin – E13, E11, E00, E000, E0000, R22, R21, R20
  • Clothes, hair and flowers – B34, B32, B39, B37, W1, E47,E44, E42, BG99, BG96, BG93

IMG_1175 (Large)

For my bow I used my bow easy and some blue Raffia from my stash along with the flowers and gems. The Loving Wishes sentiment is stamped with Memento ink.

IMG_1174 (Large)

All of the items I used in my project are available at www.stampingscrapping.com. Be sure to go and check it out, Cindy has a TON of items, a one stop shop for all of your crafting needs and the fastest shipping ever!

Ribbon Organizer

Morning!

Well, I don’t have a creative post this morning but while in the process of clearing off my table this morning and putting things away I thought I would show you my ribbon organizer.

I love ribbon and I like to use it on just about everything I create. Of course I have the bow easy to help me make perfect bows every time but I also found that I was digging to get to my ribbon if it wasn’t on a spool. Organizing the spools is easy, stick it on a dowel rod and hang it, stand it, whatever and it’s done. What about all of those loose lengths though? How in the world do you keep them organized? I have the answer.

It’s this neat little creation called the Ribbon Ring. Ever heard of it? I hadn’t and in fact I had purchased these and they sat in a drawer for months before I decided to dig them out. Working full time only gives me the weekends to craft so I don’t like to waste my time organizing until it just gets to the point that I can’t stand it anymore and have to stop and do it, that’s when I remembered I had these.

So, I took my wadded up, tangled, tied lengths of ribbon and organized them. I went from a tangled up heap to this:

 IMG_1203

Now, ignoring all of the mess around it see the lengths of ribbon hanging there? I have very large windows in my house and because I am cheap I purchased shower curtain rods to use for my window curtains. My spool ribbon hangs on a dowel rod that I have hanging and then my ribbon lengths hang on there by a metal ring.

IMG_1204

Here are a couple of close ups. So far I have four of these and I have more of the little ribbon tags on order.

IMG_1205

If I need a piece of ribbon I just look through and slide it off the tag. These tags are coated and since I am so impatient I just grab the ribbon and pull if I want the whole length and it is just slides right off. I have found that I can’t do that with rick rack because it is folded over but every other ribbon type I can.

I just wanted to share this with my blogging friends, I really like this ribbon ring and wanted to let you know. Best part? These are only $5.99 for a starter set. It comes with the ring and 30 tags. If you are interested be sure to check out Stamping Scrapping, my favorite place to shop!

Halloween Challenge at Magnolia Stamp Lovers

Our challenge at MSL this time is Halloween. Yes, it’s a little early but it is time to get busy on those cards. For my project I chose to make an Easel card and used Tilda with Spider for my image.

IMG_1202 (Large)

I also used Nestabilities Labels 11, SSD Congratulations set and What’s Brewing sentiment from SSD Mini Accents stamps.  IMG_1199 (Large)

I also used my MS fence punch and this cute little moon stamp. For my web look I used batting and pulled it apart and stretched it over the paper.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you will join us at MSL!

Today it is my turn to show you my creation. I have been into making frames lately and chose to make a frame for my project.
 IMG_1144 (Small)
I chose to use the wedding items, everyone needs a frame to put a wedding picture in. I made my frame using chipboard and for the picture opening I traced around my Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 10 and then cut it out with an exacto knife.
 IMG_1145 (Small) IMG_1146 (Small) IMG_1147 (Small)
I stamped my images with Memento Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Zing Metallic Silver.  On the frame I used my Memento Embossing pen, sprinkled on the powder and heat embossed.

Our Little Girl

Wow! I cannot remember when the last time was that I did a scrapbook. I have been so addicted to making cards and stamping that I have put my scrapbooking off. A friend of mine has a new granddaughter coming soon and asked that I make a one year album like I made for her grandson. Yes!! Gladly. So, yesterday I started on the album and wanted to show you what I have made.

IMG_1195

What do you think? This is the first page in the album. I dusted off my SU! Collage Alphabet for the title. I used some ribbon from my Really Reasonable Ribbon monthly kit and flowers from my stash. The flower centers have a variety of centers using gems, pearls and buttons. I matted a 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 piece of cardstock for my photo and used my MS Looped Hearts border punch for backing behind the photo mat. I used my Bow Easy for my bow.

Before I forget I want to remind you about our Stamping Scrapping blog hop that starts tomorrow. Here is my original post, hope you can ‘hop’ along and join the fun!

Bookmark challenge at Bildmalarna Challenge Blog

Hi Friends,
Hope you are all having a wonderful day wherever you may be. Our challenge this month at the Bildmalarna Challenge Blog is to make a bookmark or a card with a bookmark. I chose to use Tossa holding a pear from the recent Bildmalarna Stamp club.
IMG_1137 (Large)
Isn’t she just too adorable?
IMG_1139 (Large)
I used the following Copics to color her with.
  • Skin – E13, E11, E00, E000, E0000, R22, R21, R20
  • Clothes, leaves and pear – R29, R24, R22, YG17, YG13, YG00, YG0000, B04, B02, B000
  • Hair and shoes – E35, E53, E51, E50
I had to add a sentiment because I felt it was needed since I was using an image with a pear so I chose A Pearfect Read and added a book charm.
IMG_1138 (Large)
With the challenge now being a full month you still have plenty of time to enter so get out those thinking caps and create a bookmark! You can then inlinkz here.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting and hope to see you at the Bildmalarna Challenge blog.

And finally, this card uses Secretive Tilda. I am entering this one in the following challenges:

Sorry for the short post, need to spend some time with hubby!!

I like your style

Happy Sunday …. and that it is. Finally have a weekend off and I am taking complete advantage, crafting away.

Today I made this card featuring Tilda in a suit. She is from the recent Magnolia Wedding Collection. I’ve had her for awhile and have spent many moments staring at her wondering how I could incorporate her in something other than a wedding. Since I had the time I decided to just do it and this is what I came up with.

IMG_1149 (Large)

What do you think? Doesn’t she just look so cute like this? Here is a close up all decked out.

I used my Sizzix Dot Matrix embossing folder and Cuttlebug embossing frame. I added some brads on the edges, some ribbon and then the sentiment. I also used a MS punch for the scallops.

IMG_1150 (Large)

I used the following Copics:

  • Skin – E13, E11, E00, E000, E0000, R22, R21, R20
  • Clothes – N8, N6, N4, N2, RV34, RV32

I added some Rangers Stickles to the bow tie, the buttons and the rose.

And the inside

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Sketch Challenge at House Mouse and Friends

Our challenge at House Mouse and Friends this time is a sketch challenge. image

Our fellow DT member Sheri created this wonderful sketch. Isn’t it great? Here is my creation.

IMG_1132 (Large)

I chose the September Design of the Month Club stamp set. This set features the HM Turning over a new leaf and sentiment stamp. Isn’t it just adorable?

 IMG_1133 (Large)

I used the following Copics to color my image

  • E15, E13, E11, E00, R21, R20, YG99, YG95, YG93

For the ground I used the fantastic Ultra Fine Flower Soft. This stuff is awesome!!

IMG_1135 (Large)

My sentiment is mounted on top of a couple of fabric leaves that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I thought they were a nice touch for the sentiment and gave the card a little more dimension.

IMG_1134 (Large)

And the inside.

IMG_1136 (Large)

There is still time to enter our sketch challenge so why not dig out those HM stamps and create a card using this wonderful sketch? We’d love to come and visit and see what you have made. Already have your card made? Go here and link it up!

Anything but a card at SSCC

Over at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central our challenge this time is to create anything but a card.

I seem to always have a struggle when the challenge is anything but a card. It really makes me have to think hard about what I am creating. I chose to create a frame … and here it is.

IMG_1124 (Large)

I used chip board to design the frame and then airbrushed the back of the picture frame using my Copics 100 pen.

IMG_1131 (Large)

For my images I chose the adorable Sitting Wedding Edwin and Sitting Wedding Tilda for my images.

IMG_1127 (Large) IMG_1126 (Large)

I colored them with Copics and placed them on each side of the frame. For my frame window I used my Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 8 for my picture opening. The flowers, paper, ribbon and pearls are from my stash. IMG_1124 (Large) (2)

Here are some close ups of the flowers and ribbon.

IMG_1129 (Large) IMG_1125 (Large) IMG_1128 (Large)

I really enjoyed doing this and hope you like what I have created! Thanks for stopping by and visiting. Hope to see you again soon.
