Polka Dot Xara

2014-08-10 08.40.42

Today I would like to show you a card I made using another Polka Dot Pal from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. Meet Polka Dot Xara.

2014-08-10 08.40.42

Cutie, right? Well, my first thought when I saw this one is that Xara is a girl but Faye asked the question on Facebook what the first thought was, boy or girl. I was really surprised that there were a lot of both. So, is Xara a boy or a girl? Not really sure but I colored Xara as a girl.

I kept it CAS using only Spellbinders Card Creator Pearl Effects and a couple of butterflies.

2014-08-10 08.40.51WM

I printed Xara onto Make it Colour blending card and colored the image with Copics.

  • Skin – E11, E21, E00, E000, R20
  • Suit and wings – RV09, RV06, RV04, RV02, YR09, YR07, YR04

Tiddly Inks DT Call

2014-08-10 08.40.15

Yep … that’s right, Tiddly Inks is having a DT call on the Tiddly Inks challenge blog and I am entering. There are some fantastic creations already by wonderful artists so be sure to hop on over to the challenge blog and check them out.

I chose to use Whatever Floats By for my card. These images are so cute and so fun to color. I can just see this image coming to life, wiggling her little legs and giggling as she floats on up.

2014-08-10 08.52.13I printed my image onto Make it Colour blending card and lightened the lines. I just love the no lines technique and use it most of the time. I added flowers from Wild Orchid and punched some green using a McGill Pine Punch. The butterfly is from Oriental Trading Co. The sentiment, Life is Good, is from the Tim Holtz Simple Sayings set.

2014-08-10 08.40.15

I colored her using the following Copics

  • Skin – E04, E11, E21, E00, E000
  • Clothes and balloons – V09, V06, V04, V01, G07, G05, G00, R27, R24, R22
  • Clouds – B02, B00, B000

Mr. Fix it from Fun Stampers Journey

Today I wanted to show you a card I made using some products from Fun Stampers Journey.

2014-08-03 13.54.13

This is a fun, quick card that I made using products from Fun Stampers Journey.

First, the card is made from the Pocket Card die. This die fits perfectly on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock. I used Black Licorice and Fresh Forest cardstock. For the Fresh Forest I traced the inside of the die and cut out to make the layers.

I stamped onto Black Licorice with Whip Cream ink and then heat embossed clear over it. I then took a paper towel and dabbed into the Whip Cream ink to give it that chalkboard look. I did the same for the sentiment in the upper pocket which is also a removable tag.

2014-08-03 13.54.32

I stamped the removable tag using Black Licorice ink and the Damask stamp.

To hold my chalkboard pieces on I used Black Licorice twine and double knotted the ends. I really like this twine, it is thin enough that you can use a hole poker and slide it right through, no fraying and no bumps to snag. Here is what the knots look like.

2014-08-03 13.54.53

Full list of supplies:

  • Black Licorice True Color Fushion ink
  • Whip Cream True Color Fushion ink
  • Black Licorice 8.5 x 11 cardstock
  • Fresh Forest 8.5 x 11 cardstock
  • Black Licorice twine
  • Damask stamp
  • Mr, Fixit stamp set
  • Pocket Card die

There are lots of new products, come on over to Fun Stampers Journey and take a look (link above or on my sidebar).

Atmospheric Perspective

2014-07-27 06.43.35 WM

What is atmospheric perspective? That is what I said when Zoe told us what our next challenge was at Make it Colourful. It is a mouth full isn’t it? And besides that what does it mean? Well, over at the challenge site Zoe has listed several videos of what this is but in a nutshell it is what we see in the distance. The colors change, become misty, and the detail isn’t as great as close up. Be sure to check out the challenge site for some great information.

This is what I colored for the challenge.

2014-07-27 06.43.35 WM

This was colored with Copics and a little bit of colored pencil in some areas. If you look at the back of the picture you can see that the mountains have almost disappeared and the closer you get to the front of the picture the more detailed and colorful it is.

Images used to make this scene:

Thanks for stopping by and visiting and be sure to check out all of the DT creations. You have a full month to come and play along so come and join us at Make it Colourful.
